Been there many times. If I'm working when a race is one, I record it at
home and have to get through the entire day avoiding radio and TV news
programs - but get this - I work for the company that produces the
television coverage in the UK, and so the there have been occasions when
I have to drop off a tape in the newsroom where a dozen monitors are
actually on the channel, all showing the race live! The sight of me
dashing in with ear defenders on and gaze lowered, hands acting as
blinkers, has often been met with puzzlement from colleagues. Those in
the know mutter "F1 nut" without even a glance.

I have no problems knowing the outcome of a race prior to watching it, when I can find them on the tube that is. A good race is exciting regardless. I often used to tape the races and watch them over and over again.
