There is a really interesting exercise going on over on the Magnum blog at the
moment, where people are choosing Magnum photos which evoke a well-known work of
art. The shortlist is up on the blog at the moment, and makes fascinating
viewing, not least because it shows an awful lot of photos that I have never
seen before.

Why "At last!"?

Remember a few months ago I posted some pictures from the source of the Thames?
I said that one of my photos reminded me of a well-known painting, which I
thought was a Rembrandt. Several people tried to help me find the right one, to
no avail. Well, the painting I'm thinking of is entry number 65 on the blog, and
is by Thomas Sidney Cooper and Frederick Richard Lee. It's paired with a photo
by one of my favourite Magnum photographers, Raymond Depardon.
