To inspect the sharpness, I recommend 8X or 10X. For full frame viewing (more for enjoyment), 4X is more popular and Schneider makes a 6X full frame too. The quality between a good quality loupe and a poor one is HUGE. It's like you were looking at two different slides. I have the Schneider 4X MC and I would have no trouble to recommend it. Many suggest the Rodenstock 4X was as well too.
