Have you actually use the Pentax 5.5X and compared it to the Schneider 4X?
Recently a friend, who has the Schneider, compared it to the Pentax 5.5X and was quite surprised at how close they came in quality. The pentax offers better eye relief which is quite helpful when using the loupe for extended periods. Center sharpness and contrast was indistinguishable, and edge distortion, while a little better on the Schneider, was not, IMO, significantly different. The Pentax 5,5 will hold its own with the Schneider, there's no doubt about it. Tom Rittenhouse wrote: > > To check sharpness an 8-10x loupe is ok.
