MJ> Best store-bought loupes are Rodenstocks. If you want a good one for almost MJ> no money, go to eBay and look for a Pentax 55mm screwmount lens (SMC Takumar MJ> 55mm f/1.8). I use one of these as a loupe and it's better than any of the MJ> cheaper loupes I have. No distortion, very sharp. It won't show a whole MJ> slide at once, though. You can get one for peanuts. And it's Pentax!
MJ> I find it's all the loupe I ever need. A 50/1.4 lens will show the whole slide, and it doesn't even have to be working... ruined aperture, no focusing, etc... will make it a cheap loupe!
