One reason why cameras like the Leica M series, Pentax MX & LX and so on are so beautiful is that they concentrate on function, strip away all the roccoco folderols, and design for human scale. Beyond that it never seems to do much harm if you throw in a golden rectangle somewhere. Think Bauhaus, le Corbusier and the VW Beetle.
