30% say it  detracts.

5% hate flower photos.

I  look at the photo and love how sharp the flower is.  The  background
bokeh seems a little harsh, but at the same time it doesn't bother  me
that much. This was shot in 2006 with a cheapass Sigma 28-80 macro  zoom
lens on my old *istD.

What do you think?  I wonder if it  would benefit from digitally
softening up the  bokeh.

It's sort of interesting,  actually. But if your main focus is the flower, 
yes, I agree, softening up a tad  would help. I guess, my best answer is, if it 
were mine, I would.
