Pentax via distributor C.R. Kennedy in Australia released a special edition of the *ist-D, celebrating 50 years of representation in Oz. Ryan Lee and I both bought this version, although Ryan has now moved on to C*****. Tanya bought my second one when she moved to Brisbane, but I have no idea whether she is still using it.
The extra features were: Gold lettering for "PENTAX" on the pentaprism overhang and for "istD" Gold shutter button and four-way controller. Gold lettering for "PENTAX" on the rear LCD screen. "50 years in Australia" screen-printed underneath the rear LCD screen, in white. These special edition models were sold at normal prices, as far as I know. RARE LIMITED EDITION I think that K1000 RED is a fake. For doing that, you only need some tempera paint to fill the already available engravings and a cloth for cleaning the extra paint off them.
