Yep.

But due to limited space around the subject I needed more working room. The
umbrella (43") was about 8-10 inches from the subject. Hence the need for
longer FL.

I'd also need more powerful studio lights.

And a proper product table.

A short bar stool with a bed sheet (clothes pegged to curtains) draped over
it left me with sore back.

Not since my student days have I had access to a decent studio set-up.

The vast majority of product shots for magazine advertising are shot  
on 35 mm or MF digital these days. All you need is enough light to get  
f11 or so and a lens of 50mm or less. No problem. With APS-C and a 35m  
lens, getting enough DOF is a no brainer.
