John, you have to think of it as a crap shoot. During the time your item is listed, someone (preferably a few folks worldwide) has to be looking to buy your product. During any 5 or 7 day or whatever window you present your product, your ad has to have something the others don't that will attract the buyers away from other sellers. Random lookers have to be able to find your ad in searches. If that doesn't happen, it's not your fault. It's just serendipity.

I've found that waiting a few weeks or months between listings captures a whole new audience. If you are in a hurry that may not be possible. But the person who wants your lens real bad is out there, at some time not controlled by you.

In between eBay listings, try listing it on Craig's List. It's free, local, and can be a comfortable cash transaction.
