Yup.
But I'll add: then you get shadows off to the right (or left,
depending on which way you tip the camera) so it's not a perfect
solution.
Most camera stores have one or more than one flash bracket that flips
the flash when you go vertical. Check them out. Of course, you'll have
to shoot wireless or add the cost of a hot shoe adaptor and a cable to
make that work.
