Well... time to time I really see how good is that Estonia is not Scandinavia (though some people here would happily die for it). Here the situation is quite vice versa. Nineties were the poor time for Pentax here - if you wanted something, our local dealer (actually just a branch office of Finnish dealer) ordered it through Finland, Sweden and god only knows where. I waited for some small spare part for one of my lenses for 5 months. Prices were sky high. Then as it turned out, that the company is actually not a proper rep at all, another quite small but ambitious company became a official dealer (this time really official and authorized). For today they are the largest photographic equipment dealer in Estonia. Pentax is largely available - in their own outlets at the largest cities, other photo shops, supermarkets, not-so-super-markets... sales are good, pricing is ok, service works fine... I write reviews - everyone's happy ;)

Dear all,

The turn of the year has brought dramatic change to Pentax'
representation in the Scandinavian market.
Pentax Norway has cleared an article I have published in my blog on
the subject; and needless to say I am P**sed by this business
decision. In my opinion they are most likely cutting off the branch
they sit on.

Short resymé:
Pentax branch office in Sweden closed down.
Distributor rights for all scandinavian countries withdrawn from
existing companies and handed to a company more directed towards
large-chain electronic stores.
Pentax Norway has retained the service department for the Norwegian market.
