Why not use them with SR off or choose a nominal SR "length" like say 120mm when using a 70-210mm lens? Anybody ever tried this? My camera doesnt even have SR I havent tried that but I certainly would if I could. Undercompensation would occur at long lengths and overcompensation would occur at short lengths, whether either of these error cases would be worse than no SR at all would need some real world testing. Without SR, I use the old 1/fl shutter speed rule and make a real concentrated effort to hold the camera steady. When I can get 1/fl shutter speed, I ususally just hook up a monopod and that helps a lot.

The only non-AF zoom I use with the K10D is the SMCP A 35-70/4. I turn off SR.
