Very good advice indeed - and if you have previous access to the place, scout it and try to match your probable position to the best lens. I understand some cerimonies are rehearsed (right word???) so you may tag along and actually shoot some before the wedding - kind of a making-of.

If you're alone, but the wedding is to be videotaped, you may use the second camera without flash to get a different light - you may even go high ISO if your friend likes the idea. I'd avoid using any unproved or unfamiliar gear - test and try it beforehand, setup and handling. If the cameras use different batteries and/ or cards, I use a right side/ left side pocket separation to avoid mixing them.

Hi John,
Can't help you with the lens, but I would suggest you also bring one longer lens for the ceremony. A 135 will work or, better yet, a fast zoom in that range. Two bodies are essential. You can't risk it all on one. And you'll need a good flash and diffuser for the reception, with plenty of backup batteries. Good luck with this.

So it looks like I'm going to be the primary photographer at my college best friend's wedding in early March. She originally wanted me to shoot with another friend, but apparently they had some sort of falling-out and now it's all on me.

I think I need the DA* 16-50 to be able to shoot this right. I don't have any lens even close to that sort of quality, so I'm looking to buy or rent the lens from someone. I can't afford to buy it new. There are no shops within a hundred miles that rent Pentax, let alone a DA* lens, and I don't want to use a 3rd-party lens.

So, anyone want to sell their copy? If not, would you be willing to rent it? If not that, does anyone know of a place that will rent the lens and ship it to me?

Thanks,
John
