As the "normal" lens focal lenght is the diagnal of the film, (now sensor), ~43mm is the true "normal" on 35mm film cameras. Now I used to like ~55-58mm lenses as "normal" on 35mm, but got used to 50mm as "normal" and really liked the 43mm limited on Film but not as a "normal" lens. The 43mm is pretty close to the "normal" I like, (~58mm on 35mm film), when used on APS C. The 40mm is closer still to that "normal", but is a bit slow for a "normal" lens in my opinion.
I think it's easier to communicate using crop factors... -----Original Message----- >From: Charles Robinson <[email protected]> >Sent: Jan 15, 2009 10:42 AM >To: Pentax-Discuss Mail List <[email protected]> >Subject: Re: Panasonic G1 ... example photo @ ISO 1000 > >On Jan 15, 2009, at 9:32, Godfrey DiGiorgi wrote: > >> I absolutely despise all this "crop factor" nonsense.
