It amazes me that so many places that used to be "cottage areas" are now being encroached upon by the very cities that the cottagers sought to escape. In Montreal (where I was raised) there are several areas (around Lake of Two Mountains and around Mount St. Bruno, to mention two places) that are dotted with such cottages (and palatial summer estates of the well-to-do), yet both places are now considered to be suburbs.
