Hehehe... my grandfather worked as telegraphist to the Ford Company... and 2 of his grandsons actually used radios a lot - my brother went full lenght for a license, and I spent some time abusing citizen-band radios and working in an antenna store, BR style... transforming aluminum tubing and copper wires in highly priced artwork. ;-)

That's the second ham call I've seen on this list. How many are there?

And, no, I'm not one. I had the theory down by the time I was 8 or 10
but could never get my code speed up. I'd visit my grampa, W6HJL, get
it up to about 3wpm, but couldn't get my parents to practice with me
when I went home. I've still got most of grampa's old gear, I should
do a photo set of some of it one of these days.
Maybe put his "bug" and a laptop on top of the Hammerlund and call it
"old net meets new".

And, yes, I know that you can get "no code" licenses, but my main
point in getting a license would be to honor grampa mac's memory, and
getting the code up to speed would be a critical part of that.
