I'm with Doug on this.  Although I always assumed it was a pretty solid
piece of the landscape (it doesn't move at all when the car hits it, and
the post-impact shots of the car make it clear just how hard a hit it was)
Doug makes an excellent point - there's no need to stand in an impact zone.
