One of the common threads in the discussion was wondering which lenses it would hold. I got to thinking about it and came up with an idea for a lens case which may not be as pretty, or take up as little space in a pack, but which would be both cheaper and sturdier. The lining is 1/4" foam, which is just about exactly right for holding the lenses solidly in 3" ABS. The first prototype is 13" long. The trick is cutting the pipe cleanly in half. On the prototype, it is hinged with duct tape and just held closed with the end caps.
