I remember this circulating before. Don't know what the consensus was regarding it's accuracy. But a square sensor that fits within the image circle of DA lenses makes sense. And a square version of the K20D sensor would probably bring it close to 22 megapixels, although not quite all the way there.

I just ran across a *RUMOR* (who knows??) that the future K30D will be 22MP with a square format sensor.

Possibly a K20D derived body with a sensor derived from the abandoned 645D project?

I realize I'm probably a day late and a dollar short finding this (as usual), and you've all already discounted the *RUMOR*, but it's news to me.

I think it could work.
