Has anyone any experience with the Canoscan 4400? It's only about $100. I know the quality probably wouldn't be the greatest, but the primary purpose of this scanner would be low-res scans for the web that look better than what Wal-Mart does.
I haven't used the 4400, but I have an FS4000US negative scanner. It works very well, especially with FARE enabled. FARE is the Canon version of the IR dust reduction thingamabob, and it works a treat, but doubles the scan time. And the FS4000 isn't a speed demon to begin with, and can only strips of up to six negatives. But it does produce good images.
