That's absolutely correct, Bob. :-)
Then add abrasion by wind inside the clouds, and temperature gradients
in the air column through which the crystals travel before they reach
the ground, and you end up with a rather complex picture. I think the
big variation between years over here is an indication that the Oslo
and Michigan sky conditions are quite different, but I couldn't say
exactly how.
