Not that this will change anyone's mind, but I'd like to note that the
two USPS mail carriers and three UPS drivers that I deal with at home
and work are generally all quite reliable.

On the other hand, my brother's mother-in-law got a job with the USPS
and was frequently harassed by coworkers and given as little work as
possible until she finally quit.  She and some other former mail
carriers filed a lawsuit, but it was thrown out (I don't know the
reason).  According to her, postal workers are extremely protective of
their jobs and vindictive if you cross them.  While I have not seen this
behavior myself, I don't doubt it exists to some extent.  It is probably
easy to find such behavior in many workplaces, really, especially
service-based jobs.
