One more thought, re white balance:

If you're shooting RAW (as you should be, with how demanding of yourself and 
your photos you seem to be) there is no point screwing around with white 
balance in the camera.  Just set it to AWB.  Make adjustments in 
post-processing.

For a reference in difficult light, I carry one of those thingies in the top of 
my bag that is about 6in/15cm square, a reflector on one side, and a 
white/grey/black card on the other.  It is easy to pull it out and take a quick 
shot, just holding it out in front of me (focus doesn't even matter); and then 
use the Lightroom eyedropper on it to get the WB settings to use for the set.
