I  still think books may be around for a long time, if not as long as mankind 
 lasts. I find it very uncomfortable to read long, long blocks of text with a 
 backlit screen/monitor, what have you. I like the light coming down on the 
page  not behind it. Much easier on my eyes.

And I don't think I am the only  one, that's why I think things like Kindle 
haven't really taken off.

Best  selling books still do rather well. Newspapers, that's another story. 
But if  they go I'd worry more about not having enough independent news 
sources, more  than the paper thing.
