It's a rebadged Nikon P90 (which likely isn't originally a Nikon, but
some Chinese OEM's product).
Might be the same on the inside, but certainly not on the outside.
And of course Pentax Optics are superior.

I think you got that somewhat backwards. The outsides are very similar,
with some minor cosmetic changes here and there, but the insides are more
likely to be pretty different because of Pentax's SR system. Obviously the
Nikon has a flip-out screen, which I think Pentax was a little foolish to
leave off (unless it was a condition of their use of that camera chassis at
the same time as Nikon), but otherwise the bodies are virtually the same.
Also, whether or not the Pentax version's optics are any better could be up
for debate, since it doesn't specify SMC on the lens. That would lead me to
suspect that Pentax has very little to do with the manufacturing of this
camera's body and lens, and that they simply supply the electronic guts to
the OEM manufacturer for assembly. I'm slightly disappointed, but if it
turns out to be a good camera then it won't really matter. I've already
recommended it to my dad.
