I've lost all faith in CR Kennedy in Melbourne. I got a 400-600 zoom on eBay from Brisbane that came with the usual Queensland fungus. CR Kennedy sent it straight to Japan who sent it straight back again saying "unrepairable".
I then took it to John at Shutterbox in Camberwell who took it apart, cleaned it up, reassembled and collimated it for $240. No trace of the fungus and perfectly functional. Given that the lens (and an MG and 280T) only cost $150 I was pretty happy with the result.
