I'm not.  The MX has been on Pentax USA's "we can't fix it" list for
quite a few years now.

Pentax's official distributor isn't going to use cannibalized parts to
fix a 30 year old camera.  Once the new parts are gone it's a done
deal.  So 3rd party it is.  I've been tempted to start buying MXen in
bulk and creating my own parts stash.  With most of the knowledgeable
repairmen getting up there in years and/or retiring, it might not be a
bad idea to learn to repair one or two models yourself.

Eric Hendrickson has a very good reputation for Spotmatics and manual
K-mount cameras.  http://pentaxs.com/  If you have to ship it, Derby,
ship it to someone you know.  Have them take it in for repair, test it
out afterward, and then send it back to you once it's working
properly.
