She's already said why she wants the lens.
I've done a number of defishes from my 10-17. It leaves a field of
view that is fairly close to, but still wider than the 12-24, and I
haven't seen enough of a drop in image quality at the pixel level to
cause a noticable drop in quality in print.
I find it funny that you have such iron clad views regarding
photography, and at the same time, very free wheeling views,
bordering on a complete inability to give an honest critique
regarding picture esthetics.
