Agreed. Epson scanning software is actually pretty good. Also good to post process (remove dust spots if nothing else, and they will be there). Elements is the cheapest way to go on that, and, truthfully, all the editing software most people need. Get 5 and above.

Nick - I'm "me-tooing" all the above, I love elements 5 (er most of the time, anyway) and my older 1640SU Photo epson does a good job... it would be even better if my cat had not decided to take
her photo and scratched it...  she is smarter now.

I open Elements 5 and ask it to "import" from the scanner... sometimes I just set things on the scanner instead of taking photos for ebay... it is amazingly sharp... though a very shallow DOF.
