I was out & about in Chicago on Friday, a lovely day of about 67 degrees
with a sky struggling to be blue. After my errands, I jumped on LSD (thank
you very much Bob Sullivan! :-)): trails, twisty, curvy trails, plugged my
iPod into my AUX port with The Who blasting at full volume: "whooooooo are
you?" Still a relevant question even though I'm 49. I had all 4 windows
open--hair blown in the wind, body wigglin in the seat, keeping the beat by
thumping the steering wheel, and singing along in consistent off-key
fashion. I was totally unabashed in my reverie--and of the fact that I was
a public disturbance on wheels. Even the gangbangers who play that deep
annoying bass in their cars were giving me dirty looks. But did I care?
Our LSD was lovely that day.

Ann,
I got a ticket for speeding one sunny day on LSD.

It was originally called the Outer Drive. My dad never got used to the
LSD name and continued to call it the Outer Drive until he passed away.
On
the south side it becomes South Shore Drive.

When I was 19, never having actually sat behind the wheel of a car, I
drove
down the outer drive (from Foster to LIncoln Park)
because a country cousin of mine was afraid to drive in the city... This
was
1956. I had "driven" it before only by leaning
in front of my boyfriend who had the wheel - in the days when the front
seat of a car was "A" front seat...
Later , I confessed to the girl I had never done it before... she said she
thought it was odd when i asked her to park the car!
The next time I drove a car was.. hmm... 1983.

Christine,
You've got to let them in on the secret.
LSD is the acronym for Lake Shore Drive,
a 6 lane highway up the north shore of Chicago's lakefront.
It's conjested every morning and evening rush, but a beautiful drive.
It was imortalized in some song or another, but not very 'imortalized' I
guess.

Being a Chicagoan, I've grown up with LSD.
Ummm. Huh? Ummmmm What? Ummmmmm Oh, me too! Ummmm I
think.
Whoa! What the hell was that!
Trails, man. Twisty, curvey trails, up and down, splash, splash.
Faster
you go, the more blur you see. Free--bloody freeken free--trails, wind
in
your hair, trails, man. Twisty, curvey trails. Christine
