A co-worker of my wife has asked if I'd be prepared to
get some photographs of her husband - a pole vaulter -
in action.

It looks to me as though either the 50-135 or 80-200
would be a reasonable lens to use, assuming I can get
close enough to the pit, and a shutter speed of 1/1000
or faster should freeze the action.

I'm prepared to give it a try, but if anyone has any
relevant experience I'd appreciate any tips.

I'm planning to take both bodies (*ist-D and K10D)
with the 80-200 on the *ist-D, and the 50-135 on the
K10D, plus the AF540 flash in high-speed sync mode
(if I'm allowed to use it) for fill flash, if needed.
I'll also have the 16-50 with me for any wider shots.
