Well, in my experience, a 20X30 on *istD looks better than a 20X30 on film. The issue is grain vs sharpness. The grain from 35mm even fine grained is pretty visible at 20X30. The digital doesn't show that at all - just nice and clean looking. But the digital won't be super sharp if you 'print sniff' - so from a normal viewing distance, the *istD image will probably look better. I have a 20X30 metallic print sitting on the wall to look at from my desk shot on the *istD and the DA 16-45. Looks better than any 35mm print I have ever had done.
