Well, in my experience, a 20X30 on *istD looks better than a 20X30 on
film. The issue is grain vs sharpness. The grain from 35mm even
fine grained is pretty visible at 20X30. The digital doesn't show
that at all - just nice and clean looking. But the digital won't be
super sharp if you 'print sniff' - so from a normal viewing distance,
the *istD image will probably look better. I have a 20X30 metallic
print sitting on the wall to look at from my desk shot on the *istD
and the DA 16-45. Looks better than any 35mm print I have ever had
done.
All my large prints from film were done using an interneg. Really great
results.
But I have to say I've gotten really good large prints from images taken on
my *istD, although I can't recall any 20 X 30's.
