Interesting... I do bicubic sharper for reductions and bicubic smoother for upsampling.

When I was first learning Photoshop (PS 7 or CS timeframe), someone gave me an action for up-sampling that alternated the two - up-sampling 5% using bicubic sharper then up-sampling another 5% using bicubic smoother.

You just repeated the action as many times as you needed to reach the finished dimensions you wanted.
