I always keep an 8 gig card in my camera. If I take it out to download files, I stick it back in the camera immediately thereafter. I keep a second 8 gig card in the card storage slot of the K20D battery grip. I keep a third 8 gig card in the card storage pouch that's attached to my keyring. I have yet to lose a card and probably won't unless i pass out drunk while downloading files:-).

When I've ever filled a card of felt it was getting too close

I have a waterproof, bombproof, acidproof, fire & brimstone proof, nuclear explosion proof, outer space survivable, pressurised to support the weight of 40,000 tons per square millimetre, case from Peli in which I keep my
storage cards.

In fact, I have 2 just in case one gets damaged.

When I've finished a card I put it in the space vacated by the empty one I'm about to use, but turned label-down, so I don't try to reuse it and so I know when I get home which to transfer to disk. It's much easier to do this
than to mess around with separate 'filled' and 'fresh' cases.
