Use dim front lighting and a long exposure. The resulting circle of
light created by the wheel will provide an unusual backdrop for the
couple. You work out the details.

When I drive home at night I pass a ferris wheel that is all lit up,

in a photo.
Last night I came up with the idea of silohetting a person or couple
against it, either unlit so that they are dark, or possibly with a
flash.
At noon, I was reading light science and magic about photographing
glass and they were talking about having a dark background that has
light around the frame. It occurred to me that if I could have the
ferris wheel in the background, with someone sillohuetted in front of
it and something like a wineglass with the ferris wheel providing
colored edge lighting, it might make a fun photo.
Or it might end up in an epic, but educational, fail.
Maybe if I ask for advice now, my next post on the subject will be
"how can I do this better" rather than "why was it a total failure".
