I sort of doubt the whole digital back concept. Yes, digital backs have found their place in studio MF photography, at a price. However, Pentax target for their MF gear is outdoor field use. A digital back will make the cameras unecessary bulky and expensive. Hence, I think it will be much better for Pentax to make a digital camera that take the MF lenses. Hell, they could make three version on the same camera only at different sizes that fit the lenses for 35mm, 6X4,5 and 6X7, respectively, with CCD sizes to match. This will be far more cost effective in my opinion. My impression is that this wuld not happen anytime (very) soon. I believe the digital slr market is in some kind of limbo presently; not really taking off and doubts about when it actually does. I suspect Pentax have a wait and see philosphy but are ready to act on short notice. Pl - This message is from the Pentax-Discuss Mail List.
