Richard, Are you sure the flash synch on the Z-1 is 1/250? If you are sure, put it in shutter priority and set it to 1/250th. If that doesn't work, put it into manual mode and set to 1/250th. I was thinking that the flash synch was one of the differences between the Z-1 and the Z-1p.
