Thanks, Ken. Also, climbing a barbed wire fence and slogging through sopping 
wet crotch high grass can get one in a position to do.
I didn't consider turning back, but, appropriately, I scared a black cat out of 
the grass ahead of me on my way to my soggy knees in my chosen spot.
