Maybe Pentax thinks this IS Disneyworld. Unlike Disneyworld, they have a lot of competition, without good priced lenses and bodies, they are going to get killed by Canon and Nikon and Sony.

Disneyworld suffered massive price increases as Michael Eisner and friends got in charge. Visitor polls at the time of acquisition considered park tickets and meals "cheap considering the quality of services"... well, the cure is simple. Chaaarge more, they're paying.
