I booked tix for SVIIB way back in February. In all that time, there were no announcements on who the supports were going to be. Happy surprise tonight when I found out they were two bands that have intrigued me for some time now. Sherlock's Daughter and Firekites share a gentle adventurousness in sound. Any band that brings out a glockenspiel front and centre is tops in my book.
The headliner have been making a bit of a name for themselves amongst the arty crowd. Twin sisters, Claudia and Alejandra doing tight tight harmonies, and the lucky Ben in the middle pulling amazing acrobatics with guitar, pedals, and a macbook. Live, they are much more muscular musically than on their already-superb album. The lighting was a little unfortunate, however. Sisters placed far stage right and left, meaning they spent most of the time in the shadows. Ben got some good saint-light at least.
