Maybe, but I don't think the cameras are using DOS. One system using a bad
design doesn't mean they all do, 30 years on.

It's not an optimisation, it should be built into the design. Delete one
file should be a special case of delete all files, rather than delete all
being a loop around delete one; it's fairly basic stuff.
