Soaps with anti-bacterial ingredients do nothing to stop viruses. Since most use a small trace of alcohol and many bacteria thrive on traces of alcohol, they aren't particularly effective against bacteria either.

This told to me by my doctor at the height of the flu season last December. He suggested just keeping your hands clean did as well, and wearing a mask to help not spread any viruses to other people. Plain old Ivory soap and warm water do just as well as all these fancy soaps.

They gave us those hand cleaner thingies at the beginning of the
school year. I have never had so many colds in one year as this
season. I don't think they work to great:-0

I was getting quite worried about this pig flu thing that I've been
hearing about on the news.

You'll all now be pleased to know that I'm now safe.

One of my bosses just walked into my office and handed me a lively
little pamphlet entitled "Pandemic 101 - the practical way to
prepare". Would I kid you about something this important?

We're going to be getting bottles of hand disinfectant that we're
supposed to use religiously, and we're supposed to bookmark and
regularly check Pandemic 101's News Network:
