Hi All;
I have actually spared a bit of time to look at the pug site and found some very
interesting
pictures. I have always felt intimidated by the overall professional quality of all of
the fine
photographers who submit photos each month. Therefore I must always couch my comments
with the plea
of unworthiness. Nevertheless, I overcome this with what my learned wife calls "abject
egocentrism"....
Well, dear wife, I must abject; here are my favorites of this month: (in no
particular order)
Alexy Tikhanov -" Daniil, Marie and old record player."
Very nice photo; all sorts of interpretations. One I'd have liked to have called
my own.
Kroly Kovcs - "Tears"
This picture 'jolts' me. An intense photograph; reminds me of Robert Frank's work.
Artur Ledchowski - "Night Perspective"
I had a sneak peak at this photo when Mr. Ledwski and I were discussing the lens
he took this
photo with, the MIR 20mm f3.5, a lens which far outperforms the Pentax Super Tak or
SMCT 20/4.5
screw mount lens. I have since purchased this lens, and have the Super Tak 20/4.5 for
sale, and am
pleased as I can be with this lens. This photo is superb, by the way. I suppose the
green cast is
due to the Metal Halide HID lighting, no?
J.C. O'Connell - "Race Day"
My goodness, I thought this a superbly composed and exposed photo, but then I saw
which lens he
shot it with, and I was doubly impressed. Look at the notes and see if you don't
agree...
Facit - "Green, Red, Yellow and Blue"
Gorgeous. Are these colors true, or did photoshop help the superb saturation?
Cotty - "Red Tree"
If landscapes are not in your repertoire, then they should be. This is a top
flight photo!
Kathleen Leikly - "Misty marsh at dawn"
Beautiful shot, welcome to the PUG. You are certainly talented enough to feel
comfortable among
these excellent photographers. Reminds me of my own neighborhood landscapes here in
South Louisiana.
Rob Brigham - "Sea and Sunrise"
A perfect photo, should grace the cover of a local touristry pamphlet.
Jackie Dowell - "Rainbow Bridge"
Wonderful, a photo to be proud of. And a technique often under used; that is;
finding the
"underexposed" side of famous landmarks.
Joseph Tainter - "Tarascon Castle, Provence"
Another shot to display and be proud of. Everything perfect about this photo.
well, that's all, no favorite among these, and many others worth a comment or two,
but for no other
reason than "I don't know" these are my favorites.
Happy new year to all,
Sid B
