That sounds like a plan. I've reworked the original from RAW. I could see some artifacts when viewed at 150% in the previous image. I'll upload "Kingfisher Redux" this evening if I get chance, I'm at work right now.

I first duplicate the background layer, apply the Ninja to look good for the background, and leave the USM in the Ninja to 60 or lower. Then I choose the eraser in PS, set it to pressure 6-9% and remove the bird from the duplicate (noise-reduced) layer. cheers, Jostein 2009/5/5 John Whittingham <[email protected]>: > Hi Jostein, applied a little Noise Ninja, thanks for your comments. > > Best regards, > > John > ________________________________________ > From: [email protected] [[email protected]] On Behalf Of AlunFoto > [[email protected]] > Sent: 05 May 2009 08:44 > To: Pentax-Discuss Mail List > Subject: Re: PESO: Kingfisher > > John, > Good pose, difficult bird. :-) > Tough crop. :-( > > Have you applied any NR to it? > > Jostein > > 2009/5/5 Ken Waller <[email protected]>: >> What Knarf said. >> >> I agree something is going on that looks like oversharpening. >> >> Kenneth Waller >> http://www.tinyurl.com/272u2f >> >> ----- Original Message ----- From: "frank theriault" >> <[email protected]> >> Subject: Re: PESO: Kingfisher >> >> >>> On Mon, May 4, 2009 at 2:52 PM, John Whittingham <[email protected]> >>> wrote: >>>> >>>> On a dreary wet Monday afternoon, failing light, Mere Sands Wood, >>>> Lancashire: >>>> >>>> http://photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=9111100&size=lg >>>> >>>> Pentax K20D, DA*300/4 @ f/5.6, 1/60th sec, ISO 400 >>> >>> It's a very nice photo, but it looks waaaay oversharpened to me.
