Hi Frank, thanks for the comments, I think the light plays a part in the image 
appearing oversharpened, especially on the plumage over the head. It was late 
afternoon and the light is coming from the back of the bird (r/h side).

I'm happy with the bokeh but on occasions it appears quite harsh in some images.

It's a very nice photo, but it looks waaaay oversharpened to me.  No
one else seems to have mentioned this, so maybe I'm particularly
sensitive (no jokes please).  Perhaps it's due to the severe crop, but
I find it very bothersome to look at.

On the good side I really like the composition, the colours and that
bokeh is just as creamy and smooth as one could ask for.
