That's pretty much my experience, although the most memorable (and I wish it 
wasn't) was hiring two taxis to take six people to the railway station from the 
airport in Moscow.  The drivers decided that the best route was to drive 
_between_ the three lanes of traffic going in our direction.  And, hey, there 
are two of us so that constitutes a race, right?  My mother has never been 
abroad since and Cath swears she will never visit Russia again.
