Pentax is really consecrative in it's specifications, f2.8 is supposed to be the cutoff, I have been able to get mine to focus with the F 70-210mm f4.~5.6 at 210mm but only in fairly bright light. The results were relatively good, especially for a TC and Zoom combination. The subject matter and composition weren't so I don't think I ever posted any of the results...

Tim,
I can get the AF1.7X to work with the A300/4 and A200/4, but not the A400/5.6.
It doesn't seem to depend on the light, f4 is the cutoff.

The Pentax F 1,7X AF. The one that provides semi-AF on MF lenses.

Nice capture, we have a breeding pair here where I work, see them on a regular
basis but have never photographed them. What 1.7x TC were you using?

Regards,

John
