Hi, Rob, You're absolutely right, I'm writing as a buyer, not a seller. However, most of those that I was thinking about when I was writing my earlier comments were Americans or Canadians. And, btw, they have every right to put whatever reserve or BIN on their items that they want, just as I have every right not to bid - which I don't.
I guess what bothers me is that many of these are big camera stores, looking like they're trying to sell off old stock, third party lenses, other off-brand stock, or used merchandise that they can't move. Their prices or reserves look like they're about what they would have had the items listed for in their store - certainly more than I'd pay - which is why I don't bid... On store in particular, located here in Toronto, puts reserves on their merchandise that looks at least as high as their asking prices in the store. I don't know why I worry about it so much. It's their business, and if some sucker wants to overpay, more power to them (the store, that is). It does clog up eBay, and drive prices up, though. But that's what a free market is about, though, isn't it? regards, frank Rob Studdert wrote: > I see your point as a buyer, however from the perspective of buyer and seller I > would say that the situation that you outline above describes a seller with a > formula rather than a gambler.
